These are two class meeting lessons that I created for my student teaching experience in second grade.  We had class meetings every Monday in order to establish a community atmosphere in the classroom and to help the children become better citizens.

Below are two lesson plans from my map unit that I created for my second graders.  They needed to be introduced to the basic concepts of a map and how to use a map.  I assessed their prior knowledge by having them complete KWL charts.  Then we explored the types of maps, the components of a map (legend, scale, and compass), how to make a map, and how to use a map.

Voyageur: A game created for my France Unit.  It is based off the game Trivial Pursuit.  Students move around the board and answer trivia questions that we have been discussing in class.  When they get answers correct, they get a pie piece.  They must collect and create a circle of the different colored pie pieces.  The game pieces are different French images, such as the Eiffel Tower.

Postcards from Paris: An interactive bulletin board created for my French unit.  Students created postcards in class.  Some post cards are posted on the bulletin board and students must match the name of the place and a fact about the place.  There are three facts for each place.  Names and facts are sorted into envelopes.  There is also an answer key at the bottom of the bulletin board.
